WILL YOU WEAR FALL’S WACKY FUR ACCESSORIES?

Have animal pelt prices gone down or something? Fur was everywhere this season—literally. No longer relegated to coats, fur was seen on heads, feet, handbags, sunglasses and other weird places.

The Row’s AW11 collection was basically fur on steroids—the Olsens sent everything from coats to dresses to gigantic hats screaming Bryanboy down the runway. In addition to showing fur-trimmed shoes, Alexander Wang attempted to solve the ever-challenging sunglasses-with-earmuffs dilemma by making fur-trimmed sunglasses.  Fur shoes were also present at Altuzarra and fur handbags popped up at Elie Tahari and Dennis Basso, who also went a little fur-crazy this season. Besides The Row, Prada, Nina Ricci and Rochas showed fur hats while big fur capelets topped outfits at Junya Watanabe and Vanessa Bruno and Timo Weiland offered a purple fur hand muff.

Clearly, there is no limit to the ways in which fur can be used anymore, and just about every designer that isn’t morally opposed to fur is using the controversial material. But, come fall, is everyone really going to wear all this fur?  Especially these wacky accessories? We’re a little skeptical, but you never know.  PETA just might have to start throwing paint on people’s feet!
